The recent fire in Tai Po has left us all deeply saddened. As residents face damaged homes and sudden disruptions to their lives, we share in their sense of heaviness and sorrow. During this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to everyone affected. May you find comfort in the solidarity and support of the community, and may resilience guide you toward recovery and hope.
One of our artists was also impacted by this tragedy. Faced with trauma, she has chosen to channel her emotions quietly through brushes and colours, seeking solace and strength through her art.
Let us stand together and support one another as we navigate these challenging times.
Sincerely, Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong

Trainer’s Training Workshop Devising Object Theatre (24 Hours) |
JCIAS is launching its first-ever Devising Object Theatre workshop. Object Theatre, which originated in the 1980s, focuses on using everyday objects to create characters and narratives, effectively bringing these items to life. This art form allows for a meaningful connection between performers and the objects they manipulate. Even the simplest items can be transformed into characters, offering opportunities for people who may struggle with communication, or those in non-verbal environments, to engage in creation, production, manipulation, and expression through the symbolism of these objects. In recent years, Object Theatre has gained significant recognition in contemporary art performances, and community arts, especially within children’s art education.
The workshop will feature Rebekah Caputo, the artistic director of Teater Animisme from Denmark, as the facilitator. She will introduce participants to the process of Devising Object Theatre. Attendees will learn how to use readily available materials to create object puppets and master the techniques of puppet animation. Through practical exercises, participants will have the opportunity to apply their newfound knowledge to their own work and professions.

‘Inclusive Community Cultural Tour Workshop’ For the Department of Art and Design, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong |
ADAHK’s Jockey Club Inclusive Arts Studio collaborated with the Department of Art and Design at the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong to launch a series of workshops titled ‘Inclusive Community Cultural Tour Workshop’ in October. This programme adopted a project-based learning approach, guiding students to gradually become ‘Cultural Inclusion Ambassadors’ within the community.
Spanning one month, the project involved planning and leading two inclusive guided tours. The workshops covered topics such as event planning and implementation, disability and inclusion awareness training, and sessions with visual impairment experiences. Activities were jointly led by the team at JCIAS and ADAHK’s artist, Lee Shing. People with visual impairments were invited to participate, providing students with concrete and practical feedback. This ensured that the concept of ‘inclusion’ was actively practised rather than remaining merely a slogan.

ADAHK’s Artist Yang Enhua’s Music Journey in Singapore |
In July, ADAHK’s artist and erhu artist Yang Enhua travelled to Singapore to participate in the 7th Singapore International Solo & Ensemble Competition and earned a Silver Award in the Chinese Music Advanced category. After the competition, Enhua went for a series of exchange activities, including attending a masterclass given by Ms Chen Yan, erhu instructor from the Central Conservatory of Music, as well as visiting the Singapore Chinese Orchestra and having insightful discussions on music and inclusive arts with their Principal Conductor, Mr Quek Ling Kiong, and Executive Director Mr Ho Wee San.
Despite the tight schedule, Enhua took this opportunity to explore Singapore’s rich cultural diversity during his free time. A few short clips capturing the highlights of Enhua’s musical journey are now available on our social media platforms.
