Established in 2013, the ‘Artist with Disability Development Fund’ is funded by Lee Hysan Foundation. It aims to finance and assist outstanding people with disabilities in Hong Kong, aged 40 or below, in pursuing local or overseas studies in the arts or specific paths for artistic development. Over the past decade, artists with disabilities from various artistic backgrounds have successfully received funding to pursue different art courses or to implement their personal artistic development plans, achieving remarkable accomplishments in the art field.
The new round of applications for the ‘Artists with Disability Development Fund’ is now open, with a deadline on 30 June 2025. Shortlisted applicants will receive invitations for interviews in early July, which will be conducted by a panel of renowned local artists and scholars.

【Arts Accessibility Scheme】The First Main Stage Relaxed Performance in Hong Kong – HKDance: Dance-to-know MULAN |
In collaboration with ADAHK, the Hong Kong Dance Company has curated a Relaxed Performance for the upcoming presentation of Dance-to-know MULAN. This performance takes audiences through Mulan’s journey using the art of dance and drama elements. The Relaxed Performance aims to create a welcoming and relaxing theatre environment for families, as well as people with learning difficulties, those on the autism spectrum, and those with intellectual disabilities. Key features of the performance include:
1. Moderate house lighting that remains on even during the performance 2. Relaxed house rules allowing audience members to make sounds and enter or exit freely 3. Softened lighting and sound effects to minimise sensory stimulation 4. A chill-out area for audience members who may need a break 5. A shortened performance duration of 45 minutes instead of the usual 75 minutes to accommodate those with shorter attention spans
We hope this performance promotes the arts to a more diverse audience and sets a precedent for local arts groups by incorporating Relaxed Performances into mainstage programmes that welcome audiences with varying needs to enjoy and participate in the arts.

‘Kai Tak Get Set Go! 2025’ Art Booth and Band Performance Held Successfully |
ADAHK is proud to have participated in the first large-scale community sports carnival at Kai Tak Sports Park, titled ‘Kai Tak Get Set Go! 2025.’ Our artists with disabilities were featured, including Apple Tong, as well as three participants from the digital painting class of ‘ArtWorks - The Path to Becoming an Artist’: Kisha Cheung, Justin Wong, and Hanabi Wong. Additionally, the Flash Ensemble, established by the Jockey Club Inclusive Arts Studio, also took part in the event.
Apple’s face and hand painting art was popular amongst children, while the quick sketches and digital artworks created by the participants of ‘ArtWorks’ drew a lot of attention, each reflecting their personal styles. The performance by the Flash Ensemble was particularly significant as it included parents for the first time, allowing them to join their children on stage. This heartwarming moment showcased a beautiful intergenerational musical exchange. The interactions between the artists with disabilities and the public highlighted ADAHK’s vision of promoting inclusive arts.
